
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met Canadian International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu in New Delhi to advance negotiations on the India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expedite talks and aim for an agreement by the end of 2026. The fourth round of negotiations is focusing on trade in goods and services, rules of origin and technical trade barriers.

New Zealand Minister for Trade and Investment Todd McClay, in an interview with IANS, said India has witnessed significant changes in its economy, infrastructure and wealth during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service. Speaking at the Ideas4India forum in Seattle, Kwatra stressed that India’s AI adoption must reflect its development needs, infrastructure and ability to absorb new technology. He also highlighted the roles of government and businesses in building AI capabilities, while Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella emphasised the importance of making AI accessible to people across India.
