Intelligence reports suggest Moscow is quietly supplying drones and support to Tehran, potentially marking its first direct lethal assistance since the conflict escalated, even as Russia publicly maintains a limited role.

Western intelligence agencies have claimed that Russia is covertly supplying weapons and support to Iran amid the ongoing conflict with the United States, according to a report.
The intelligence assessment, cited in reports, suggests that Moscow is carrying out phased shipments that include drones as well as non-military aid such as medicine and food. These deliveries are aimed at strengthening Tehran as it faces continued pressure from US and Israeli military actions.

Officials familiar with the matter indicated that discussions between Russian and Iranian authorities on transferring drones began shortly after strikes on Tehran in late February. The shipments reportedly started earlier this month and are expected to be completed by the end of March.
In addition to physical supplies, Russia is also believed to be assisting Iran through intelligence sharing, including satellite imagery and targeting data. Such support could significantly enhance Iran’s operational capabilities in the ongoing conflict.
If confirmed, the alleged transfer of drones would mark the first instance of Russia providing direct lethal military assistance to Iran since the escalation of hostilities. Moscow has so far avoided overt military involvement, instead maintaining a more cautious and indirect role in the conflict.
The developments come against the backdrop of deepening ties between Russia and Iran, with both countries increasingly aligned in countering US influence. However, Russia has publicly refrained from confirming any military aid, continuing to present its involvement as limited to dialogue and humanitarian assistance.
The situation adds another layer of complexity to an already volatile conflict, raising concerns about broader geopolitical escalation if external powers deepen their involvement.
