Nikki Haley released her delegates to Donald Trump ahead of the Republican National Convention, urging unity and criticizing Joe Biden's competency and Kamala Harris's potential presidency. Haley, not attending the RNC, emphasizes the need for strong leadership on border security, debt reduction, and economic recovery.
Nikki Haley endorses Trump: Indian American Republican leader Nikki Haley has officially endorsed Donald Trump for the upcoming presidential election. On Tuesday, she released the delegates she had won during the party's primaries earlier this year, solidifying Trump's position as the presumptive nominee.
The announcement comes ahead of the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Trump will be formally nominated as the party's candidate for the November 5 general election.

"The nominating convention is a time for Republican unity," Haley said. “Joe Biden is not competent to serve a second term, and Kamala Harris would be a disaster for America. We need a president who will hold our enemies to account, secure our border, cut our debt, and get our economy back on track. I encourage my delegates to support Donald Trump next week in Milwaukee.”
Haley had garnered 97 delegates in the primaries, while Biden secured a whopping 2,265 delegates. For the GOP presidential nomination, a candidate needs 1,215 delegates. Haley suspended her campaign in March, making this endorsement a significant move toward party unity.
Despite her support, Haley will not be attending the RNC. According to her spokesperson, Chaney Denton, Haley was not invited to the convention but is at peace with the decision. "Trump deserves the convention he wants. She has clarified that she is voting for him and wishes him the best," Denton added.
Haley's endorsement and delegate release signify a pivotal moment in the Republican campaign, emphasizing a unified front against the Democratic contenders. Her strong statements against Biden and Harris underline the critical issues she believes need addressing, such as national security, border control, debt reduction, and economic recovery.
As a former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and Governor of South Carolina, Haley's backing adds weight to Trump's candidacy. Her decision to release her delegates before the convention highlights her commitment to rallying the Republican base around a single candidate.
