New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially declared Rishabh Pant fit to participate in the upcoming IPL tournament, paving the way for his anticipated return to cricket after a prolonged absence due to injuries sustained in a car accident over a year ago.
Pant, a key player for the Delhi Capitals, has undergone extensive rehabilitation and is now poised to resume his role as a wicketkeeper-batter for the franchise. His comeback not only boosts the Capitals' lineup but also raises hopes for his inclusion in the national team for the T20 World Cup, scheduled later this year.

"After a rigorous 14-month rehabilitation process following a severe car accident in December 2022, Rishabh Pant has been deemed fit to take part in IPL 2024 as a wicketkeeper-batter," stated the BCCI in an official announcement.
The news of Pant's return comes as a relief to fans and cricket enthusiasts, who eagerly await his dynamic performances on the field. Despite facing significant challenges during his recovery, Pant remained determined to expedite the process, as evidenced by his commitment to shaving off six months from his projected timeline.
The National Cricket Academy recently confirmed Pant's fitness after he successfully completed all required fitness tests, including rigorous match simulations. His ability to both bat and keep wickets underscores his potential contribution not only to the IPL but also to India's prospects in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressed optimism about Pant's chances of featuring in the T20 World Cup squad, emphasizing his importance as a match-winner for the team. Pant's presence during last year's IPL auction and his dedicated efforts towards rehabilitation highlight his unwavering determination to return to peak form.
Meanwhile, the BCCI also confirmed that Mohammed Shami, representing the Gujarat Titans, will miss the IPL due to heel surgery, with no expected return before September. Additionally, Prasidh Krishna of the Rajasthan Royals, recovering from left proximal quadriceps tendon surgery, is also ruled out of the tournament.
As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the commencement of IPL 2024, Pant's comeback adds an extra layer of excitement to the tournament, promising thrilling performances and memorable moments on the cricketing stage.
