The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on March 10 announced a ₹131 crore cash reward for the senior men’s national team following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

India secured the title with a commanding win over the New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, becoming the first team in tournament history to defend the T20 World Cup title.

Confirming the announcement, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the board was honouring the players, support staff and selectors for delivering a historic achievement.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a cash reward of ₹131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” Saikia said, congratulating the squad for their dominant run.

With the victory, India also became the first team to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times, reinforcing their stature in the shortest format.

Reward higher than 2024 bonus

The reward marks an increase of ₹6 crore from the ₹125 crore prize announced after India’s 2024 triumph by then BCCI secretary Jay Shah for the side led by Rohit Sharma.

India dominate final

India sealed the title with a 96-run victory after posting a formidable 253 for five in the final, powered by a blistering 89 from Sanju Samson.

The bowlers completed the demolition, with Jasprit Bumrah delivering a sensational spell of 4 for 14 to dismantle New Zealand’s chase.

Samson finished as Player of the Series, scoring 321 runs in five innings, while Bumrah was named Player of the Match in the final.

ICC prize money

Apart from the BCCI reward, India also earned $2.34 million (about ₹21.5 crore) in prize money from the International Cricket Council. Runners-up New Zealand received $1.17 million (about ₹10.75 crore).

The victory marked India’s third T20 World Cup title and their first successful defense, further cementing the team’s dominance in the format.
