Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed strong criticism of the Congress party's manifesto, stating that it contrasts with the BJP-led NDA's goal of developing India by 2047. In a discussion with ANI in Madurai, Singh remarked, "The NDA's aim is to elevate India to a developed status by 2047, and in my view, the Congress manifesto would only reverse this progress."
Addressing India's advancements in defence, Singh highlighted the nation's transition from importer to exporter of defence equipment, with exports rising from Rs 600 crore in 2014 to over Rs 31,000 crore currently.
Singh contrasted the BJP's clean record on corruption with the Congress' past tenure, which he claimed was marred by multiple allegations, particularly in defence. He also noted India's growing economic strength on the global stage.
Criticizing the Congress for its handling of terrorism, Singh commended the Modi administration's effective measures in significantly reducing terrorism incidents across the country, except for sporadic occurrences in Kashmir.
Singh also addressed concerns of cross-border tensions, emphasizing India's readiness to respond robustly to any threats. Concluding his remarks on the Congress manifesto, Singh described it as a backward step, in stark contrast to the BJP's forward-looking proposals.
