As part of the 16-day “Voter Adhikar Yatra,” Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav connect with voters in Purnia, highlighting alleged discrepancies in Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, along with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Tejashwi Yadav, participated in a motorcycle ride through Purnia district as part of the ongoing “Voter Adhikar Yatra.”
The campaign, which began on August 17 in Sasaram, spans 16 days and is designed to engage voters and highlight concerns over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter lists.
During the ride, both leaders were seen traveling together on motorcycles through the streets of Purnia, drawing local residents who gathered along the route. Rahul Gandhi reportedly rode a Royal Enfield “Bullet” motorcycle, accompanied by Tejashwi Yadav.
The event was widely covered in the media, with official footage shared on the Congress party’s channels. Observers noted the emphasis on direct engagement with constituents, as the leaders interacted with people along the route.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra is part of a broader political initiative aimed at raising public awareness regarding the SIR process, which is intended to update and revise electoral rolls in Bihar.
The campaign has visited multiple districts, with leaders aiming to reach rural areas and connect with voters directly. As per reports, the yatra also highlights voter education, ensuring citizens are aware of their rights and the ongoing electoral revisions.
Expelled RJD MLA Tej Pratap Yadav commented on the campaign, expressing a preference for walking village paths over motorcycle rides as a means of connecting with local communities.
He stated that his approach allows for more direct engagement, contrasting it with the high-profile ride undertaken by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra is scheduled to continue across several districts in Bihar over the coming days. Its focus remains on voter outreach, public awareness, and highlighting the ongoing revision of electoral rolls under the SIR process.
Both Congress and RJD have maintained that the initiative is intended to strengthen democratic participation and ensure the integrity of voter registration in the state.
Leaders participating in the campaign are using the opportunity to interact with residents, hear grievances, and raise awareness regarding voter rights, while maintaining a structured, documented approach to outreach.
