Senior Congress leader K Abdul Jabbar has resigned as chairman of the minority department of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, citing “deep disappointment” among leaders within the party.
In his resignation, Jabbar flagged growing dissatisfaction among minority leaders across the state, indicating that internal issues had been building for some time.

Sources within the party said the immediate trigger for the development was the denial of a ticket to a minority candidate in the Davanagere South constituency, which had reportedly caused resentment among local leaders and community representatives.
The issue is believed to have escalated during the campaign period for the recent bypoll, exposing internal divisions and coordination gaps within the party’s minority leadership.
Reports also suggest that factionalism and a lack of effective coordination among leaders contributed to the situation, with concerns being raised over the marginalisation of minority voices in decision-making processes.
Jabbar, a long-time Congress member, is understood to have expressed dissatisfaction over being sidelined during key campaign decisions and internal discussions.
The resignation comes at a sensitive time for the Congress in Karnataka, as the party seeks to maintain cohesion amid electoral challenges and internal dissent. Party leadership is yet to announce a replacement or formally comment on the development.
The episode underscores ongoing tensions within the state unit, particularly over representation and ticket allocation, which could have broader implications for the party’s prospects in future elections.
