AAP shares videos of Delhi residents “swimming” through flooded streets, mocking BJP’s lack of monsoon preparation.

Following heavy rain and widespread waterlogging across Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party leaders on July 23 launched a pointed critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s governance.
Former ministers Manish Sisodia, Atishi, and MLA Geeta Rawat shared videos of people “swimming” and “rowing” through flooded streets in West Vinod Nagar and Patparganj, mocking the BJP by calling the scenes “water sports."

In one viral clip, a man swims down a submerged road while another paddles in an inflatable bathtub. Atishi tweeted sarcastically, “Many congratulations to Chief Minister @gupta_rekha for starting so many swimming pools in Delhi!"
Geeta Rawat posted footage of herself rowing on NH-24 under the Mahamaya flyover, recalling that the local BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi had once boated there two years ago. She taunted him, asking where the promised monsoon “war room” was.
Responding, MLA Ravinder Singh Negi attributed the flooding to “heavy rain,” assured that four pumps were deployed, and defended the government by stating, “Our govt is four months old, and we are continuously working."
The flooding hit multiple areas—including streets near Ambedkar Park and Mahamaya flyover—as the India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Delhi and neighboring regions like Noida and Ghaziabad.

Residents and commuters faced severe disruptions during the morning rush.
AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj described the situation as “free water sports,” highlighting the city’s inability to manage monsoon-related infrastructure. The party accused the BJP of making grand seasonal claims while failing basic civic preparedness.
The jibe adds to a growing political battle over Delhi’s monsoon management, with the AAP accusing the BJP of neglecting essential drainage systems, and the BJP blaming unprecedented rainfall. Both sides are vying to assign blame as the city grapples with rising public discontent over recurring floods.
