Post-mortem confirms Ajith Kumar suffered prolonged, targeted assault with deep muscle trauma, internal bleeding, and signs of systematic torture — contradicting police claims of natural death.

Ajith Kumar, 25, temple guard allegedly died in police custody.
The custodial death of 25-year-old Ajith Kumar in Tamil Nadu has taken a chilling turn, with the autopsy report revealing a shocking 44 injuries, extensive brain trauma, and internal organ damage — all pointing to brutal, prolonged torture.
The post-mortem report documents severe blunt-force injuries across the scalp, torso, limbs, and even the soles of the feet. The extent and nature of these wounds strongly suggest deliberate and repeated assault with hard, linear objects such as batons or lathis.

Prolonged assault, not accidental injury
Ajith Kumar’s injuries, medical examiners note, were neither superficial nor isolated. Deep muscle-level contusions were found in at least 30 different sites. Several linear contusions measured up to 28 cm in length and often overlapped — a telltale sign of repeated beatings over time. Subscalp bruising and skull ecchymosis indicated forceful trauma to the head, while haemorrhaging in both cerebral lobes pointed to life-threatening brain injuries likely inflicted before death.
The report categorically undermines any claims of a natural death, seizure, or minor scuffle as suggested in the initial police FIR. Instead, the forensic evidence paints a grim picture of sustained custodial violence.
Internal bleeding, organ trauma, and signs of torture
In addition to the brain trauma, the autopsy noted petechial haemorrhages — pinpoint bleeds caused by intense stress or suffocation-like conditions — in critical internal organs including the heart, liver, and stomach wall. These internal signs, typically associated with extreme blunt-force impact or asphyxiation, further reinforce the suspicion of physical torture.
Shockingly, a bite mark was observed on the right tip of his body, and large contusions were documented in areas often associated with deliberate torture — including the gluteal region and soles of the feet. These injuries, often inflicted to avoid visible bruising, are widely recognized as characteristic of custodial abuse techniques.
Medical evidence contradicts police narrative
The pattern, depth, and distribution of Ajith Kumar’s injuries rule out any possibility of spontaneous medical collapse or accidental trauma. Medical examiners concluded that the nature of his wounds was consistent with targeted torture, administered over a sustained period, ultimately leading to his death.
The disturbing revelations from the autopsy have reignited calls for an independent probe, with human rights groups demanding swift accountability. As the state reels from yet another alleged case of custodial brutality, Ajith Kumar’s death threatens to become a searing reminder of unchecked power — and a test of the justice system’s resolve.
