Naveen Jaihind, who is also the ex-chief of AAP’s state unit in Haryana, has claimed that there is a danger to Maliwal's life.
Former husband of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who was allegedly assaulted at the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, has on Wednesday, demanded FIR against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo.
Naveen Jaihind, who is also the ex-chief of AAP’s state unit in Haryana, has also claimed that there is a danger to her life.
“An FIR should be lodged against Arvind Kejriwal, as the incident happened at his home. Sanjay Singh is Kejriwal's parrot,” Naveen told reporters.
Calling the CM's residence a “gutter house,” Naveen alleged “danger” to Maliwal's life.
“She was threatened; otherwise, nobody would up call up the police or return from the police station. She is still being silenced,” he claimed.
Naveen, in a video message posted on Facebook, first clarified that he got divorced four years ago and was no longer in regular touch with Maliwal. He further said that whatever happened to Maliwal was part of a bigger conspiracy and there was danger to her life.
He also questioned the “silence” of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi, and the National Commission for Women (NCW).
NCW had earlier demanded strict action against the accused, adding that it will write letter to Delhi police in the matter.
“MP Rajya Sabha Smt Swati Maliwal reportedly assaulted at Delhi CM's residence. The National Commission for Women (NCW) vows action, demanding justice from Delhi Police and sending an inquiry team. Perpetrators must be held accountable. NCW will be sending a formal letter to Delhi Police to send an ATR(Action Taken Report) in this matter in 3 days,” NCW had said in a post on X, on Monday.
Naveen further alleged that the attack at Maliwal was on someone’s behest, adding that AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was conspiring against Maliwal and he had no sympathy for her.
Meanwhile, Singh, admitted on Tuesday that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's personal assistant Bibhav Kumar had “misbehaved” with Maliwal when she visited the chief minister's residence to meet Kejriwal.
Singh also said the chief minister had ordered strict action to be taken.
“Swati Maliwal had gone to meet Arvind Kejriwal at his residence. While she was waiting to meet him in the drawing room, Bibhav Kumar came and misbehaved with her. This is a highly condemnable incident. Arvind Kejriwal has taken cognizance of it and will take strict action in the incident,” Hindustan Times quoted him as saying.
“Maliwal has done a lot of work for the country and society. She is a senior party leader. We are with her during this time. The party does not support those (who insult women). The whole incident has been taken seriously by Kejriwal,” Singh added.
Several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have also urged the Delhi Police to take action on Singh's statement, insisting that an FIR should be filed and those responsible should be dealt with.
