Rashtriya Bajrang Dal activists burnt an effigy of alleged communal leaders in Bangladesh & raised slogans against them. They demanded the removal of Bangladeshi and Rohingya settlers in India, particularly from Jammu and Kashmir.
The Rashtriya Bajrang Dal (a Hindu group) August 7, held a peaceful protest in Jammu to condemn the attacks on Hindu minority community members in Bangladesh. Expressing serious concerns over the safety of Hindus in the turmoil-hit country, the protestors demanded their protection.
Hindus have faced targeted violence after Sheikh Hasina’s ouster as prime minister following massive protests in the country.
“Temples, homes, and businesses belonging to Hindus have been vandalised in recent days. Two Hindu leaders killed in attacks and women harassed,” Rakesh Kumar, the group’s chief told reporters.
“Hindus are being targeted under a conspiracy in 27 districts. The Jamaat is involved in attacking the homes, temples, and the Hindu community,” he alleged.
Rashtriya Bajrang Dal activists burnt an effigy of alleged communal leaders in Bangladesh and raised slogans against them. Kumar also demanded the removal of Bangladeshi and Rohingya settlers in India, particularly from Jammu and Kashmir.
The attack on Hindus is a “conspiracy”. The population of the community has fallen from 32 % to 8 %, he claimed. The government must take concrete steps for the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh, he added.
Hasina resigned as prime minister and arrived in India on Monday following unprecedented anti-government protests in Bangladesh. The protests, which initially began with the demand to end a quota system that reserved 30 % of government jobs for families of veterans later turned into violent anti-government clashes.
