In a significant development, Delhi Police have arrested the accused in the murder of an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer’s daughter from the Dwarka area of the national capital.
The accused was apprehended on April 22 from a hotel in Dwarka following multiple search operations, officials said. The arrest comes hours after the brutal killing of the 22-year-old woman in South Delhi’s Amar Colony shocked the city.

The victim was found dead at her residence earlier in the day under suspicious circumstances. Preliminary investigations suggested that she was strangled, allegedly using a mobile phone charging cable.
Police suspect that the accused, believed to be a former domestic help, may have entered the house using prior knowledge of access points. CCTV footage reportedly showed the suspect near the residence around the time of the incident.
Investigators are also probing the possibility of sexual assault, although officials have said that confirmation will depend on forensic and medical reports.
According to initial findings, the victim was alone at home when the crime took place, as her parents had stepped out in the morning. The body was later discovered by family members, who alerted the police.
The arrest is expected to help investigators piece together the sequence of events and establish the motive behind the crime. Police are currently interrogating the accused and examining evidence collected from the scene.
The case has raised concerns over safety within residential spaces and the risks associated with employing domestic staff without thorough background checks.
