The Indian Army has organized the ‘Battle of Minds’ – Indian Army Quiz 2023, along with its captivating logo, at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi Cantonment as a move to promote knowledge and empower the youth. The event embarks on the 25th year of Kargil Vijay Divas celebrations and pays tribute to the bravery and courage of those who contributed to the victory in the Kargil War. The newly revealed logo underscores the Army’s commitment to nurturing intellectual growth and inspiring young minds across the nation. This initiative aims to kindle curiosity and learning among the youth, contributing to the development of future leaders.
Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, graced the event with his presence. Mrs. Archana Pande, President AWWA, unfurled the quiz competition’s logo, while Param Vir Chakra Awardees Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retired) and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar were also present, alongside Principals from schools across all 36 states and Union Territories of India.
The initiative is set to engage around 1.5 crore students from approximately 1.5 lakh schools across the country. The competition will involve teams of three students plus one reserve from co-educational schools, with at least one female student on each team. Participants will fall within the age group of 10 to 16 years. The competition will take place in a hybrid mode – both online and offline – progressing from the regional Command level to the national level.
The competition consists of two stages. The first stage includes an online elimination round where students will tackle intellectually stimulating questions. Successful participants will then proceed to the regional Command-level offline competition and ultimately to the Grand Finale, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of their knowledge and capabilities.
The competition’s key elements include inclusivity, equity, fair play, free registration, and attractive prizes. Rewards exceeding 4 crore rupees are on offer, including buses for the top 12 schools and over 360 laptops for students and teachers.
The quiz goes beyond testing general awareness and serves as a platform for youth to demonstrate their knowledge of culture, science, technology, and innovation. It aims to create awareness among students about their role in nation-building.
The initiative’s logo, name, and tagline encapsulate the legacy of the Indian Army. The logo’s formation sign shape signifies unity and discipline, while the maroon and metallic bronze colors represent strength and resilience. The name “Battle of Minds” symbolizes intellectual vigor, with the tagline emphasizing victory, bravery, and heroism. The crossed swords and Ashoka pillar embody the spirit and dedication of the Indian Army.
The ‘Battle of Minds’ initiative signifies the Indian Army’s commitment to nurturing future leaders through enlightenment and empowerment. It pays homage to the spirit of the Kargil War while propelling the nation’s youth toward a future marked by unity, knowledge, and curiosity.
