Delhi has been placed on high alert following intelligence inputs warning of a possible terror threat targeting key installations and crowded public areas in the national capital, officials said on Saturday. Security agencies have increased deployment across sensitive locations, transportation hubs and important government buildings as precautionary measures.
According to sources, intelligence agencies warned that terrorists could attempt attacks using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), prompting Delhi Police and central security agencies to step up surveillance and anti-sabotage operations across the city. The alert reportedly mentioned possible threats to markets, religious places, metro stations and other crowded locations.

Following the alert, police personnel, bomb disposal squads and quick reaction teams have been deployed at strategic locations. Officials said intensified checking of vehicles and suspicious individuals is underway at major entry and exit points of the city, including railway stations, bus terminals and airport areas.
Security has also been tightened around diplomatic missions, government complexes and prominent public gathering areas. Police teams have reportedly increased patrolling in marketplaces and high-footfall zones, while CCTV surveillance and anti-sabotage checks have been intensified.
Sources said intelligence agencies shared the alert after intercepting suspicious communications and gathering inputs suggesting possible plans to target the capital. However, officials have not publicly disclosed specific details regarding the nature of the threat or the groups suspected to be involved.
Special teams of Delhi Police Special Cell and other intelligence units are also carrying out coordinated monitoring operations. Officials said security drills and mock exercises have been conducted in some locations to test emergency response preparedness.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report unattended bags, suspicious objects or unusual activities to the police. Security agencies said additional precautionary measures would continue over the coming days based on threat assessment inputs.
