Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was arrested in the Delhi liquor policy case on March 15 by the Enforcement Directorate.
BRS leader K Kavitha on Tuesday wrote a letter to Delhi's Rouse Avenue court on Tuesday expressing distress over the whole fiasco as the court extended her judicial custody till April 23.
Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was arrested in the Delhi liquor policy case on March 15 by the Enforcement Directorate.
The ED has also arrested Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for investigation in the money laundering angle in the alleged scam.
Kavitha, in a letter to the court, said that the investigation by central agencies - which she referred to as a "media trial" - has hit her reputation and invaded her privacy.
"I'm a victim. My personal and political reputation has been targeted. My mobile phone is displayed on all television channels, directly invading my privacy," she said in the letter which was read out in the court by her lawyer.
"I have cooperated with the agencies and given all the bank account details. I will hand over all the mobile phones which the ED claim that I have destroyed," the letter said.
Earlier, the court refused the BRS leader to address the court personally and said that she could give her requests in written form.
Hitting out at the BJP for the alleged misuse of the central agencies by the BJP, Kavitha in the letter said, "95 per cent cases of ED/CBI are against the opposition leaders and when the accused Joins BJP the investigation abruptly stops,” reported NDTV.
While leaving the court, the BRS leader said that the case against her "won't stand the test of time". "This is a case completely based on the statement. It is a political case. This is a case of targeting the opposition parties," she told reporters.
After AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, Kavitha was the third high-profile politician to be arrested in the case.On March 21, Arvind Kejriwal became the first sitting chief minister to be arrested in the case. While Singh recently got the bail, both Sisodia and Kejriwal are lodged in Tihar Jail. He had been in custody since October 2023, after his arrest by the ED in the same case.
