The victim Navyashree’s friend Aishwarya who lodged the police complaint said she was horrified to found her lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit at former’s flat at SMV Layout, Kengeri Upanagara on Aug 28 morning.
A man was detained by Bengaluru police on Aug 28 for allegedly killing his wife, a dance instructor by profession, police said.
The victim Navyashree’s friend Aishwarya who lodged the police complaint said she was horrified to find her lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit at the former’s flat at SMV Layout, Kengeri Upanagara on Aug 28 morning.
Aishwarya in her complaint alleged that Navyashree has been strangled to death.
In her complaint, Aishwarya said that on the morning of Aug 27, she received a message from Navyashree and reached her home at around 4.30 pm.
Navyashree told her that she was under immense stress due to strained marital relations with Kiran. Meanwhile, Navyashree called Anil, another friend requesting him to meet her while expressing fears for her safety and security.
The three friends met later that evening (Aug 27), and Anil suggested that Navyashree file a complaint with the police against her husband, hoping that police intervention might help resolve the marital issues Aishwarya mentioned in her complaint.
After dropping Anil off, Navyashree and Aishwarya returned to the former’s flat at around 11.30 pm and went to bed.
Aishwarya, who had consumed beer, woke up the next morning and was shocked to discover Navyashree lying dead with her throat slit. She immediately alerted the neighbors and informed the police control room, according to the complaint.
Police suspect that Navyashree's husband, Kiran, who reportedly suspected his wife of having extra-marital relations may have used a spare key to enter the house and commit the crime.
Meanwhile, media reports quoting sources said the woman was tied to a chair, tortured, and then murdered.
Navyashree had been living with her husband, Kiran since their love marriage around three years ago. The Kengeri police station has registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
