Prime Minister highlights economic, security and humanitarian challenges arising from the ongoing conflict, assures adequate supplies and calls for unity and vigilance across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens not to fall for rumours amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, stressing the need for vigilance and unity as global tensions continue to impact India.
Addressing the situation, Modi said the conflict has created “unprecedented” challenges for the country, including economic strain, national security concerns and humanitarian issues. He cautioned that the impact of the war could be long-lasting and compared the situation to the disruptions seen during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Calling for calm, the Prime Minister appealed to citizens to remain alert and avoid misinformation, particularly rumours related to shortages or panic situations. He emphasised that such misinformation could create unnecessary anxiety and disrupt public order.
Modi also reassured the public that India has adequate reserves of essential commodities, including petroleum products, and that the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply. He highlighted that India has diversified its energy sources over the years and is closely monitoring global developments to safeguard domestic needs.
The Prime Minister underlined that India’s response to the crisis is guided by national interest, with a focus on maintaining economic stability, securing supply chains and protecting citizens both within the country and abroad. He noted that authorities are in constant coordination to manage emerging challenges effectively.
Raising concerns over internal security, Modi warned that “certain elements” may attempt to exploit the situation. He said that security measures have been strengthened across key areas, including border, coastal and cyber security, to prevent any destabilising activities.
He also called for a collective approach, urging both the Centre and states to work together to manage the crisis. Emphasising a “Team India” strategy, Modi said coordinated efforts would be crucial in mitigating the impact of the conflict on vulnerable sections of society.
The Prime Minister further highlighted the importance of preparedness in sectors such as agriculture, energy and logistics, noting that proactive planning would help minimise disruptions. He assured that the government is taking both short-term and long-term measures to address the evolving situation.
The remarks come as the conflict in West Asia continues to escalate, affecting global energy markets, trade routes and supply chains.
