On Thursday, a special court in Ajmer cleared Abdul Karim 'Tunda', aged 80, of charges related to the 1993 serial bomb blasts. However, two other accused individuals, Irfan, 70, and Hameeduddin, 44, were handed life sentences.

The trio, escorted by police, arrived at the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) court around 11:15 am amidst heightened security. They were implicated in the series of bomb explosions that occurred on trains in Lucknow, Kanpur, Hyderabad, Surat, and Mumbai on December 6, 1993.

Abdul Rashid, the defense attorney for the accused, stated that they plan to challenge the life sentences of Irfan and Hameeduddin in the Supreme Court. Rashid noted that Irfan, who is approximately 70% paralyzed, has been incarcerated for about 17 years, while Hameeduddin has been in jail for 14 years.

The 1993 blasts resulted in the death of two individuals and injured several others. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) consolidated all the cases and forwarded them to the TADA court in Ajmer in 1994. Since then, all the accused have been held in Ajmer.
