Six more people were taken into custody in the UP Public Service Commission's question paper leak case for the positions of assistant review officer and review officer. The exam was scheduled for February 11, but was canceled in March due to allegations of a paper leak.
Arrested men
Six people were detained by the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police on June 23 in connection with their purported involvement in the leak of question papers for the positions of review officers and assistant review officers earlier this year.
Examinations were administered statewide by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). On February 11, the very next day, the state government canceled it due to reports that the paper had been leaked.
Amarjeet Sharma, Vivek Upadhyay, Vishal Dubey, Sandeep Pandey, Sunil Raghuvanshi, a printing press worker, and Subhash Prakash were all taken into custody by the STF. The arrests were made in Prayagraj. As though Rajiv Nayan Mishra, the mastermind behind the paper leak, is already in prison.
The paper was leaked from two principal sources: a printing press in Bhopal and Bishop Johnson Girl's High School and College in Prayagraj, according to the UPSTF's inquiry. The paper arrived at the examination center on February 11; nevertheless, it was leaked prior to the start of the UPPSC exam.
Vineet Yashwant, the administrator of the exam center at Bishop Johnson Girls School in Prayagraj, is among the ten other suspects who are already detained. It was discovered that Kamlesh Kumar Pal, with Vineet Yashwant's assistance, had taken pictures with his cell phone early on February 11 in order to leak the paper.
Sunil Raghuvanshi, Rajiv Nayan Mishra, Subhash Prakash, and Vishal Dubey were all engineering students. After earning their B.Tech., Rajiv and Vishal Dubey began student’s admission into engineering universities. According to the STF, Rajiv Nayan Mishra and Vishal Dubey met with Subhash Prakash to get student admission to engineering colleges.
According to Sunil Raghuvanshi, a paper containing 140 questions and another with 40 questions arrived at the printing plant during the final week of January. Rajiv Nayan Mishra and Subhash Prakash were informed about the paper by Vishal Dubey.
The positions of assistant review officer and review officer caught the attention of Rajiv and Subhash. The STF revealed that Subhash Prakash had filled out the application and was familiar with the format of the questions.
In addition to demanding Rs. 10 lakh, Sunil Raghuvanshi mandated that the candidates read the paper in Bhopal. Vishal Dubey and Rajiv acceded to his demand.
As per the plan, on February 3, nine days prior to the exam, Sunil Raghuvanshi revealed the damaged 180-question booklet concealed in a water bottle while claiming to be repairing a broken section of the printing press machine from the outside.
The candidates gathered at Bhopal's Hotel Komal. According to the STF, Rajiv Nayan Mishra made the decision to charge each applicant Rs 12 lakh for the paper.
Vishal Dubey arrived at the hotel on February 8 with Sandeep Pandey, another acquaintance. Sunil Raghuvanshi reached the hotel after getting six photocopies of the question paper.
While Subhash Prakash arrived at the hotel with the books and guide to answer the questions and present them to the candidates, Vivek Upadhyay and Amarjeet Sharma arrived with the candidates.
According to the STF, Subhash Prakash used his cellphone to take a picture of the question paper from the hotel and forwarded it to Rajiv Nayan Mishra.
However, Rajiv Nayan Mishra forwarded the paper to another network in Prayagraj and Delhi, which prompted a more extensive probe that exposed more of the guilty individuals, including ex-police officers and other allies.
Arun Singh, a former police officer from Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Sharad Patel, Saurabh Shukla, Amit Singh, Kameshwar, Ravi Atri, and Pushkar were all part of this second network. Subhash Prakash took the UPPSC exam in Varanasi on February 11.
Following the detention of Rajiv Nayan Mishra and Ravi Atri during the recruitment exam, information regarding Subhash Prakash was obtained. Additionally, the STF was able to retrieve Subhash Prakash's exam booklet from the commission.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered that the UPPSC test be rescheduled within six months after it was postponed on March 2. The STF was assigned the task of investigating the matter.
