11 coaches of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Superfast Express derailed near a station in Cuttack, Odisha, prompting railway authorities to deploy frontline officers for assistance.

At least one person died and several others were injured after the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Superfast Express derailed near Nergundi station near Cuttack in Odisha on March 30.
According to the officials the East Coast Railway (ECoR), the derailment happened at around 11:54 am.

Accident relief and medical relief trains have been dispatched, said an official statement by ECoR.
“A special train is being arranged to transport stranded passengers to their destination. We have issued helpline numbers for train passengers and their families. Help desks have also been set up at Bhubaneshwar, Bhadrak, and Cuttack railway stations,” an ECoR spokesperson said.
The cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained as railway authorities are trying to restore normalcy on the affected track as three trains have been diverted due to the accident.
The divisional railway manager (DRM) Khurda Road, general manager of ECoR with other higher-level officials have rushed to the spot.
Meanwhile, an accident relief and medical relief train has also been rushed to the spot.

Alternate arrangements are also being made to ensure that the stranded passengers reach their respective destinations following which they will begin restoration works.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said his office is in touch with the Odisha government.
"I am aware of the incident involving the 12551 Kamakhya Express in Odisha. @CMOfficeAssam is in touch with the Odisha Government and Railways. We will reach out to every person who is affected," Sarma said in a post on X.
