Kangana Ranaut and Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Kangana Ranaut, the Bollywood actor turned Member of Parliament, has once again made headlines with her call for the acceptance of an 'obsessive work culture' in India, mirroring the practices of foreign countries.

This statement comes in the wake of her sharing a clip from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inaugural address to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) staff, where he outlined his vision for the year 2047.

The proposed admission cycles, set to commence from the academic session of 2024-25, will be in July-August and January-February.

According to Ranaut, this shift in admission cycles will be particularly beneficial for students who may miss the July-August admission due to delayed board results, health issues, or personal reasons.

Ranaut, who recently found herself in a controversy involving an alleged slapping incident at the Chandigarh airport, took to her Instagram stories to share her views on work culture.

Kangana shared this view on her Instagram stories while posting a clip from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first address to PMO staffers.

She expressed her belief that normalizing workaholism is crucial for the country's progress.

In her post, she shared PM Modi's sentiment, who stated, "Together we have just one goal – Nation First. Just one intention – 2047 Viksit Bharat. I have said this publicly, my each and every moment is for the country. I have also promised the country – 24/7 for 2047".

Ranaut, representing Mandi in the Parliament, further elaborated, "We need to normalise obsessive work culture and stop with the waiting for the weekends and crib about Mondays memes. That’s all western brainwashing. We are not a developed nation yet and we can’t afford to be bored and lazy at all".

The actor-turned-politician's comments come shortly after she was allegedly slapped by a CISF woman constable at Chandigarh airport.

The constable claimed her actions were in response to a statement Ranaut made about women joining the farmers’ protest for Rs 100.

Ranaut's call for a shift in work culture and her support for PM Modi's vision for 2047 has sparked a range of reactions.

As the proposal and feedback received are now under review by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, it remains to be seen how these views will shape the future of work and education in India.
