The Aashiqui film franchise has established itself as a significant brand, with both movies in the series achieving remarkable success. The original Aashiqui, released in 1990 and starring Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, is celebrated for its compelling narrative and unforgettable music, which continues to resonate with audiences.

Following this, Aashiqui 2, which hit theaters in 2013, featured Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur and successfully matched the first film's success.

Vishesh Films, the original co-producer of the 1990 film, holds the registered trademarks for Aashiqui and Aashiqui Ke Liye.

Recently, a court ruling favored Vishesh Films in a dispute with T-Series, which had announced a film with a similar title.

Justice Sanjeev Narula ruled that T-Series’ use of these titles could lead to public confusion and potentially weaken the established Aashiqui brand.

The ruling stipulates that neither production house can exploit the franchise or use the title without mutual consent.

Vishesh Films argued that T-Series' actions could mislead the public and dilute the brand's uniqueness.

The court recognized Aashiqui as a vital part of a well-known film series and emphasized the need to preserve its uniqueness.

Vishesh Bhatt, Managing Director of Vishesh Films, expressed his satisfaction with the court's decision, highlighting its role in safeguarding the franchise's legacy and preventing consumer deception.

Aashiqui 3 had also been announced a while ago with Kartik Aaryan in the lead.
