The actor has stepped away from Hera Pheri 3, returning his signing fee with interest amid payment delays, sparking a legal dispute with the film’s production house, Cape of Good Films.
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has officially exited the much-anticipated film Hera Pheri 3, and reports confirm that he has returned the signing amount paid to him.
According to a report, Rawal refunded ₹11 lakh, which he had received as part of the initial agreement, along with 15% annual interest and an additional sum.
"Paresh Rawal has returned the signing amount of ₹11 lakh with 15% p.a. interest and also a little more money for stepping away from the series," a source said.
"Paresh Rawal was paid ₹11 lakh as a signing amount as per the term sheet. His total fees were locked at ₹15 crore. The term sheet mentioned that Paresh Rawal would receive the balance amount — ₹14.89 crore — only one month after the release of the film," the source added.
The delay in production and deferred payment schedule appear to have influenced Rawal's decision.
With the main shoot expected to begin next year and the film potentially releasing in late 2026 or 2027, the timeline reportedly became a concern.
Following his exit, a legal dispute has emerged. Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films, has reportedly filed a ₹25 crore lawsuit against the actor.
So far, only a promotional shoot has been completed for Hera Pheri 3, which was reportedly filmed using the set and crew of Bhooth Bangla.
The earlier films, Hera Pheri (2000) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006), are considered cult classics, with Rawal’s portrayal of Baburao remaining a fan favorite. His departure has left the future of the franchise uncertain.
