UNESCO launches internship opportunities across multiple departments

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has launched an internship program for students and recent graduates.

Eligible candidates include those currently enrolled in graduate programs (master’s, PhD, or equivalent) or those who have recently graduated with a master’s or PhD within the last 12 months. Applicants must be at least 20 years old.

Candidates who are not enrolled in graduate school but have earned a full-time bachelor's degree are not eligible to apply.

Applicants for technical/professional or secretarial/assistant positions must be enrolled in a technical/professional institution or secretarial school, be in their final year, or have recently graduated (within the last 12 months) from their institution or school.

The internship duration can range from one month to a maximum of six months. UNESCO does not provide financial compensation for internships; assignments are unpaid, with no other forms of compensation.

All students applying for this internship program must ensure their contact details remain valid for six months.

The application can be completed in either French or English, and if documents are not in these languages, an unofficial translation should be provided.

Not all applicants will receive a response, but selected candidates will be contacted by the manager.

The available internship positions can be applied for until Dec 31, 2025.

These positions include opportunities in the Governing Bodies Secretariat, Office of the Director General, and Communication and Information sector.

Other sectors include Education, Culture, and the Bureau of Human Resource Management. There are also openings in the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, Office of International Standards and Legal Affairs, and Communication and Public Engagement.

Additional positions are available in the Natural Science sector, Division of Internal Oversight Services, priority Africa, external relations, and digital business solutions.
