Telangana govt partners with six NGOs to offer free tech-based education in schools

In a significant push toward improving public education, six non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have joined hands with the Telangana School Education Department to provide free, technology-driven teaching services in government schools.

The initiative was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on June 15.

The MoU aims to enhance access to quality education for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by introducing advanced learning tools and methodologies at no cost to the state or the students.

The NGOs partnering with the government include Nandan Nilekani’s EkStep Foundation, Sunita Krishnan’s Prajwala Foundation, Alakh Pandey’s Physics Wala, Khan Academy, Shoaib Dar’s Pi Jam Foundation, and Safina Hussain’s Educate Girls.

The EkStep Foundation plans to expand its AI-powered multilingual learning platform from 540 to over 5,000 primary schools across all 33 districts.

The platform focuses on foundational skills in Telugu, English, and mathematics for students in Classes 3 to 5.

Physics Wala will offer free coaching for competitive exams such as NEET, JEE, and CLAT to government school students at the intermediate level, aiming to foster early exam readiness.

Khan Academy will deliver curriculum-aligned, video-based STEM education for Classes 6 to 10, enabling self-paced learning among students.

Prajwala Foundation will implement child safety and protection programs for students in Classes 6 to 12.

Pi Jam Foundation will train students from Class 1 to 10 in coding and computational thinking, helping them develop critical problem-solving and digital skills.

Educate Girls, which has already helped enroll over 16,000 out-of-school children in Telangana, will continue its work to improve literacy among girls and advance gender equity in education.

“We are laying the foundation for a knowledge-based future. These partnerships reflect our commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in this digital age,” said CM Reddy.

The event was attended by Government Advisor K Kesava Rao, Education Secretary Yogita Rana, CM’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, School Education Director Narasimha Reddy, and representatives from the participating NGOs.
