Telangana govt announces pre-primary education rollout in 210 schools

Starting in the 2025-26 academic year, pre-primary classes will be introduced in 210 government schools across Telangana, according to a statement issued June 11 by the state’s School Education Department.

District Education Officers have been instructed to guide headmasters to begin the enrollment process for the upcoming academic session.

The initiative is intended to build school readiness and strengthen foundational learning for students entering Class I.

"All the District Education Officers in the state are informed that 210 pre-primary sections are approved in AWP & B (Annual Work Plan & Budget) 2025-26 of Samagra Shiksha," the department said.

Samagra Shiksha is a centrally sponsored program that integrates the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), and Teacher Education (TE), as explained on a state government website.

On April 10, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the government is working to introduce pre-primary education for underprivileged children to ensure access to quality learning. This move, he said, would help retain students in government schools rather than losing them to private institutions.
