The initiative aims to support talented students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds pursuing advanced studies in mathematics, statistics, and AI, while covering tuition, research costs, and stipends.

The University of Glasgow has joined hands with the Martingale Foundation to launch a new scholarship initiative aimed at supporting postgraduate students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds pursuing studies in mathematics, statistics, and related fields.
Under the partnership, eligible students will receive fully funded master's and PhD scholarships, covering tuition and research-related expenses.

The program is designed to expand access to advanced study opportunities for talented students who may face financial barriers.
The scholarships are available to applicants who qualify for UK Home Fee status and have attended school in the UK or Ireland. Indian students who meet the residency and schooling requirements may also be eligible to apply.
Applications for the Martingale Master's and PhD Scholarships in Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence will open on August 12.
The program is open to students with STEM backgrounds who demonstrate a strong interest in research and come from lower-income households.
In addition to the new scholarship program, the University of Glasgow has announced several funding opportunities for Indian students for the upcoming academic year.
These include the ASBS India Achievers Award, which offers a £15,000 tuition fee waiver for Indian citizens enrolling in postgraduate programs at the Adam Smith Business School.
The India Excellence Award provides a £12,500 tuition discount for outstanding Indian students across multiple academic disciplines, while the World Changers Scholarship offers an automatic £5,000 reduction in tuition fees for eligible Indian postgraduate applicants.
Recipients of the Martingale scholarships will benefit from full funding for master's or doctoral study, personalized support throughout the university application process, and financial assistance covering tuition fees, research costs, and a tax-free stipend aligned with Living Wage Education guidelines.
The program also includes professional development opportunities such as leadership training, networking with leading academics and industry experts, and membership in a research-focused community.
Professor Nigel Mottram, Head of the University of Glasgow's School of Mathematics and Statistics, said, "We're pleased and proud to be partnering with Martingale Foundation to create new postgraduate opportunities for students, from an even wider range of backgrounds, in the years to come."
"The University has a longstanding commitment to expanding access to higher education and enabling talented students from all walks of life to reach their full potential. This new partnership will empower more students to access our highly ranked mathematics MSc and PhD programmes and to help us achieve our goal of transforming lives through ideas and action, grounded in world-leading research, teaching and innovation,” he added.
