The Maharashtra government has approved a revised curriculum framework for Class 6, which will be introduced from the new academic session beginning in June, School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse announced.
The approval was granted during a meeting held at the Maharashtra Primary Education Council office.

Officials said the state had earlier cleared updated syllabus frameworks for Classes 2, 3, and 4 under the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
According to the government, the revised curriculum has been developed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) and will focus on competency-based learning and clearly defined learning outcomes.
Bhuse said, “The new curriculum for Class 6 will be implemented from the upcoming academic session beginning in June, alongside the already approved curricula for classes 2, 3, and 4.”
"The framework has been designed in line with the National Education Policy, with a focus on defining difficulty levels and developing a competency-based, learning-outcome-oriented structure," he added.
Focus on learning outcomes
Officials said the curriculum framework has been prepared by categorizing difficulty levels while emphasizing conceptual understanding and skill-based learning.
The state government added that the final syllabus and textbook development process will move ahead after approval from the curriculum coordination committee functioning under the School Education Commissioner.
Bhuse stated that Balbharati has been directed to prioritize textbook preparation so that books are available before the start of the academic year.
Teacher training planned across state
The government has also planned training programs for teachers to support implementation of the revised curriculum for Classes 2, 3, and 4.
State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Director Hemant Vasekar said master training sessions for teachers will be organized at the state level later this month, followed by district-level training workshops.
Officials said the training sessions are intended to familiarize teachers with the updated syllabus, revised textbooks, and competency-focused teaching methods.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for School Education Pankaj Bhoyar, Principal Secretary Ranjitsinh Deol, Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh, and State Board Chairman Trigun Kulkarni.
SCERT Director Hemant Vasekar, Balbharati Director Anuradha Oak, Director of Education (Secondary) Mahesh Palakar, Director of Education (Planning) Krishnakumar Patil, and other members of the steering committee were also present.
