CBSE to begin Class 12 re-evaluation process, portal expected to go live today

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is scheduled to start the Class 12 verification and re-evaluation process from June 1, with the board indicating that its post-result activities portal will be activated to facilitate applications from students seeking a review of their marks.

In a notification issued on May 29, CBSE said it had revised the launch date of the portal to ensure the process remains secure and free from technical issues.

"In order to ensure a transparent and glitch-free process for verification and re-evaluation of answer books of students who intend to submit their applications on the Post-Result Activities portal, it has been decided that the designated portal will now be operational from 1st June 2026. This is to ensure the highest standards and protocols of evaluation," CBSE said in a press statement.

Board Issues Student Support Details

Students seeking clarification regarding post-result procedures can contact CBSE's Tele-Counselling Helpline at 1800 11 8004 or write to [email protected], according to the board.

The process is being opened for Class 12 students who wish to apply for verification of marks or re-evaluation of answer sheets following the declaration of results.

Security Concerns Addressed

The development comes after concerns were raised regarding the OnMark portal used by CBSE's service provider. On Sunday, the board stated that vulnerabilities detected in the system had been contained and efforts were continuing to identify and eliminate any remaining weaknesses.

Earlier, several students reported difficulties while accessing scanned copies of answer sheets through the portal. Complaints included blank pages, inactive links, and captcha-related errors, although CBSE maintained that the platform was functioning properly.

Revised Fee Structure Announced

Amid criticism from students and parents, CBSE has significantly reduced the charges associated with post-result services.

The fee for obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer sheets has been reduced from ₹700 to ₹100. The verification fee has also been lowered from ₹500 to ₹100. Re-checking of individual questions will cost ₹25 per question.

Portal Yet to Open

Although June 1 was announced as the start date for applications, the official portal had not become operational at the time of reporting. Students visiting the website continued to encounter an "under maintenance" message, delaying access to the verification and re-evaluation process.

According to CBSE sources, the portal is expected to become functional later in the day. Sources indicated that technical upgrades and payment-related integration work are currently being completed before applications are opened.

Final Technical Checks Underway

CBSE had previously postponed the re-evaluation process, citing the need to provide students with a smooth and error-free experience.

Sources said the board is carrying out final testing of portal operations and payment systems to minimize disruptions once applications begin.

Admission Deadlines Add Pressure

The delay has raised concerns among students, particularly those preparing for engineering admissions. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process is scheduled to begin on June 2, one day after the anticipated launch of the re-evaluation portal.

Many students are seeking verification or re-evaluation in the hope of improving their scores and meeting the 75% eligibility requirement applicable to admissions at certain engineering institutions.

With admission timelines approaching, students are awaiting the activation of the portal and further clarification from CBSE regarding the application process. The delay has added to concerns surrounding results, eligibility criteria, and upcoming counseling schedules.
