The board reported processing over 18,000 applications while supporting thousands of concurrent users, even as technical teams responded to unauthorized access and disruption attempts.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported that its re-evaluation and verification portal remained fully functional despite being targeted by multiple cyberattack attempts shortly after the application window opened.
According to the board, the portal became operational at 7 am and continued to serve students without disruption throughout the day, even as it faced unusually high levels of malicious online activity.

In a statement shared on X, CBSE disclosed that the platform was subjected to a large-scale denial-of-service (DoS) attack that generated nearly 1.5 million hits within just two minutes.
The board also detected more than one lakh attempts to gain unauthorized access to files hosted on the system.
"While thousands of students accessed the CBSE re-evaluation portal today, malicious actors attempted to disrupt services through a barrage of cyberattacks," the board said.
Providing further details, CBSE added, "Most recent being a denial of service attack attempt causing 1.5 million hits on the portal within a matter of 2 minutes and more than 1 lakh attempts of unauthorized file access."
Despite the attempted disruptions, the board said the portal continued to operate normally and was able to manage significant user traffic.
By 3 pm, the system was supporting more than 8,000 concurrent users and had successfully processed over 18,000 re-evaluation and verification applications.
CBSE also said several upgrades had been introduced based on feedback received from students. Among the changes, session time limits on the portal have been increased to make the application process more convenient.
The board had earlier introduced Aadhaar-based verification for portal logins as an additional security measure.
Officials said technical teams are continuously monitoring the platform and implementing safeguards to ensure that students can submit their applications without interruption during the re-evaluation and verification process.
