The National Testing Agency (NTA) has dismissed allegations of discrepancies in the scoring of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024.

The controversy arose when a student, Ayushi Patel, claimed in a viral video that she received a torn Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheet.

The NTA clarified that no torn OMR answer sheet was dispatched from an official NTA ID.

They assured that the OMR answer sheet is intact and the scores are accurate as per official records.

They also advised candidates to download scorecards only from the website.

The student had claimed that she did not receive her NEET UG 2024 results, which were announced on June 8.

Instead, she received an email from the NTA indicating that her results could not be displayed.

After requesting her OMR sheet, she received images of torn sheets and, after calculations, expects a score of 715.

Her parents, who are lawyers, have filed a petition over the discrepancy, with a hearing scheduled for June 11.

In addition to this, the NTA announced that the education ministry has formed a four-member committee to review the grace marks awarded to over 1,500 candidates in the NEET 2024 results.

Who is Ayushi Patel

Ayushi Patel, a test-taker from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has made a claim regarding her score in the medical entrance exam. She believes she should have received a score of 715.

Patel shared in a video message that she was unable to view her score after the NEET results were released, and instead encountered an error message stating "your result has not been generated".

She received an email from the NTA an hour after the results were announced, informing her that her result could not be generated due to a torn and damaged OMR sheet.

Patel responded to the NTA's email, requesting a photocopy of her OMR sheet. Her request was acknowledged, and she received an image of the sheet within 24 hours.

Upon examining the OMR sheet she claims was sent by the agency, Patel noticed that the barcode appeared to be intentionally torn, but all her OMR responses were clearly visible.

She manually checked her answers against the final answer key and found that her NEET score should be 715.

Patel has taken legal action and filed a petition at the Allahabad High Court. The hearing is set for today, June 11.

In response to the viral video, the NTA has clarified that the torn OMR answer sheet was not sent from an official ID.
