The Ministry of Education has opened the online application window for the National Teachers Awards 2026, inviting eligible teachers across India to submit self-nominations through the official National Awards Portal.
The application process, managed by the Department of School Education and Literacy, began on June 15 and will remain open until July 10, 2026.

Presented annually, the National Teachers Awards recognize educators who have made outstanding contributions to school education through innovative teaching methods, student development, and efforts to improve learning outcomes and classroom practices.
According to the official schedule, online applications will be accepted from June 15 to July 10, followed by the final submission of nominations from July 11 to 13.
District and regional screening will take place between July 14 and 21, while state and organizational screening is scheduled for July 22 to 29.
Shortlisted candidates will be informed between July 30 and 31. The National Jury will evaluate nominations from Aug 3 to 7, with final recommendations to be made on Aug 8.
Selected awardees will be notified between Aug 10 and 20, and the rehearsal and award ceremony will be held on Sept 4 and 5, 2026.
Teachers employed in schools run by the Union Government, state governments, Union Territory administrations, local bodies, and aided or private schools affiliated with recognized education boards are eligible to apply, subject to the prescribed guidelines.
Applicants must submit their self-nominations through the official National Awards Portal before the deadline. Teachers are advised to complete all required information carefully and review their applications before final submission.
The Ministry of Education has encouraged deserving teachers from across the country to participate in the National Teachers Awards 2026 and showcase their contributions toward improving the quality of education.
