Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has said that ongoing unrest in the state has severely disrupted the education sector, leading to school closures, delayed examinations, and rising distress among students over the past two weeks.
Bandhs, blockades, and incidents of violence have restricted movement, making it difficult for students and staff to commute, particularly in valley districts.

The disruptions have affected attendance, slowed academic progress, and impacted the overall quality of education.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Singh highlighted that the situation has also created hardships for daily wage earners and warned of potential long-term human capital losses if normalcy is not restored.
“The government alone cannot bring peace unless the public and civil society organizations support it,” the CM said, urging all stakeholders to come forward for dialogue.
He added that there is no alternative to discussions and collective efforts to restore peace. The remarks come in the backdrop of protests following the killing of two children in bomb attacks on April 7 at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district.
