State to enlist ex-servicemen, NCC, and Scouts to instill discipline, fitness, and patriotism among young students through structured training in schools.
Students in Maharashtra will soon receive basic military training starting from Class 1 as part of a new initiative aimed at fostering patriotism, discipline, and physical fitness, according to state School Education Minister Dada Bhuse.
"A decision has been taken to give basic-level military training to students from Class 1. This will help inculcate love for the country, encourage habits like doing physical exercise regularly, and discipline that will benefit the students," Bhuse said.
The minister added that retired soldiers will be brought in to conduct the training.
“Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has shown support for the proposal,” Bhuse said.
“To roll out the plan, the government will enlist the support of 2.5 lakh ex-servicemen, along with sports teachers, the National Cadet Corps (NCC), and Scouts and Guides,” the Shiv Sena leader added.
