IIT Madras launches three AI courses on SWAYAM Plus, registrations open

IIT Madras has opened registrations for three new beginner-level Artificial Intelligence courses on its SWAYAM Plus platform, developed in collaboration with IITM Pravartak. Candidates can apply online until May 10.

The courses were launched by V Kamakoti during an event marking two years of SWAYAM Plus. The campus event brought together representatives from government, industry, academia, and learners and also recognized top-performing students and partner organizations.

AI for Aspiring Engineers is aimed at students moving from school to engineering and focuses on building fundamentals in Python, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning using real-world datasets.

AI for Administrators targets working professionals and focuses on applying AI, Machine Learning, and Generative AI to support decision-making in management roles.

The Prompt Engineering course is designed to help learners interact effectively with AI tools to produce accurate and meaningful outputs.

These offerings are part of the “AI for All” initiative launched in May 2025, which has seen strong participation across the country.

The first batch featured five introductory AI courses in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Accounting, Cricket Analytics, and AI/ML using Python, drawing over 42,000 registrations.

The second batch added AI for Educators, aimed at school teachers, and recorded more than 50,000 registrations, indicating rising interest in AI learning across disciplines.
