The collaboration aims to combine scientific research, engineering innovation, and start-up energy to develop market-ready technologies, promote entrepreneurship, and create jobs in healthcare, sustainability, and agri-biotech sectors.
IIT Jammu has signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) and three start-ups to promote translational research, support technology-driven entrepreneurship, and strengthen regional economic growth.
Officials said the partnership will combine CSIR-IIIM’s expertise in natural product discovery and drug development with IIT Jammu’s engineering strengths to co-develop market-ready technologies.
The initiative is expected to streamline the path from lab research to commercial deployment, particularly in healthcare, sustainable materials, and agri-biotech sectors.
The MoU also outlines joint support from CSIR-IIIM-TBI and IIT Jammu’s I3C incubator, which will offer mentorship, prototyping facilities, and investor connections.
Additional activities such as workshops, industry-oriented training programs, and knowledge-exchange events will be organized to nurture local talent and create new employment opportunities.
Governance of the collaboration will be shared by senior leadership from IIT Jammu and CSIR-IIIM, working closely with the three start-ups to build a science and technology ecosystem that supports innovation-led growth.
“This tripartite alliance exemplifies IIT Jammu’s commitment to bridging cutting-edge research with societal impact,” said IIT Jammu Director Manoj Singh Gaur.
“By combining our engineering capabilities with CSIR-IIIM’s life-science expertise and dynamic start-ups, we will fast-track the development and commercialization of solutions that benefit our region and beyond,” he added.
The MoU was signed by IIT Jammu Director Manoj Singh Gaur and CSIR-IIIM Director Zabeer Ahmed in the presence of senior scientists, faculty members, and officials from both institutions.
Representatives of the three start-ups, Songbaran Chatterjee (Biogreen Projects), Manigandan Kumarappan (Evlogia Eco Care), and Mahadeva Swamy (Crop Domain), were also present at the ceremony.
