Prof Gupta, an expert in ICT policy and cybersecurity, brings over two decades of academic experience to IIM Lucknow, succeeding Professor Archana Shukla as the new institute director.
Manmohan Prasad Gupta, a professor at IIT Delhi, will soon take over as the director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow.
He will succeed Prof Archana Shukla. According to an official statement from IIM Lucknow, Prof Shukla was asked to continue in the role after her five-year term ended on April 4 last year until a regular director was appointed.
“IIM Lucknow is pleased to announce that Prof Gupta, currently serving as a professor at IIT Delhi, shall shortly take charge as the institute’s director,” the statement reads.
Prof Gupta began his academic career at IIT Roorkee, where he served as a lecturer from 1990 to 1996 and as an assistant professor from 1996 to 1997.
He joined IIT Delhi in 1997 as an assistant professor and has been with the institute since.
He was promoted to the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) scale in 2017 and currently holds the Modi Foundation Chair as Professor at IIT Delhi.
He has published over 200 research papers, supervised 32 doctoral theses, led 22 sponsored projects, and coauthored or edited four books.
His academic contributions have played a key role in shaping India’s "Cyber Security Policy" and have supported major government initiatives such as "Digital India" and the "Smart City" mission.
He is also actively involved in several central and state government policy-making bodies related to information and communication technology (ICT). His primary research focuses on ICT policy.
Established by the Government of India in 1984 as the fourth IIM, IIM Lucknow offers postgraduate diplomas, executive programs, and fellowships in management.
