IIT Bombay launches AI course for women professionals and entrepreneurs

IIT Bombay’s Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship (DSSE) has invited women professionals and entrepreneurs to register for a short online course on generative artificial intelligence, scheduled for Sept 11 to 13.

The course, titled “GenAI for Business: A Hands-On Introduction,” is tailored for women in leadership and entrepreneurial roles seeking to apply new AI tools in real business settings. Registration will close on Sept 9, the institute confirmed.

Designed as a three-day program, sessions will run in the evenings on Sept 11 and 12 from 5 PM to 8 PM and in the morning on Sept 13 from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Co-Pilot, DALLE, Perplexity, Flux1, Grok, and Notebook LM, with live demonstrations and practical business case studies.

Officials noted that what began as individual experimentation with AI tools is now being shaped into structured courses and certifications, reflecting how generative AI is entering formal education.

IIT Bombay’s Senior Survey 2025, conducted by its student media body Insight, revealed that ChatGPT has become the second-most preferred resource for learning new skills, trailing only online platforms such as Coursera.

The survey covered 282 students from the outgoing batch. Of the 272 who answered questions on skill learning, 118 relied on platforms like Coursera, and 65 used ChatGPT, while only nine preferred library books, a method that once defined academic culture.

The survey also indicated limits in AI adoption. Eighty-nine of 138 respondents said they had not used ChatGPT for resume preparation, while 46 reported avoiding it for assignments or projects, suggesting selective use of the tool.

By launching a women-focused module, IIT Bombay aims to build confidence among professionals and entrepreneurs who may already have ideas and networks but require direct exposure to the latest technologies.
