The four-year program will offer training in aerodynamics, propulsion, space mechanics, and advanced technologies, alongside laboratory work, research projects, and interdisciplinary electives.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Banglore has announced a new undergraduate program in Aerospace Engineering, with admissions scheduled to begin for the August 2026 academic year through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process.
The four-year BTech course will provide students with training across core areas of aerospace studies, including aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, flight and space mechanics, and guidance and control systems, according to an announcement shared by the institute on X.

IISc said the program will be spread across eight semesters and comprise 128 credits. The curriculum has been designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications, equipping students for careers in aerospace industries, research organizations, and higher education.
The course will feature extensive laboratory training, access to the Aerospace Engineering X Lab, and a design-build-fly capstone project aimed at giving students hands-on engineering experience.
Students will also be able to choose electives in emerging and interdisciplinary fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and materials science.
According to the institute, high-performing students may have the opportunity to enroll in graduate-level courses alongside postgraduate students.
The program will also include structured research projects beginning in the third year, allowing students to gain early exposure to research and innovation.
Admissions will be conducted through JoSAA 2026, expanding IISc's portfolio of undergraduate engineering programs and strengthening its focus on advanced technology and scientific education.
Prospective applicants can find detailed eligibility requirements and additional information on the institute's undergraduate admissions portal.
