The initiative aims to provide Himachal Pradesh's teachers with international exposure, enhancing their teaching skills and knowledge to foster a modern, inclusive, and effective education system in the state.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on April 13 dispatched a group of 70 teachers from across the state on an educational tour to Singapore.
Highlighting the initiative, the chief minister said the state government is committed to transforming the education sector through forward-looking reforms, including international exposure for educators.
He added that such experiences not only expand knowledge but also enrich professional insight.
The state government has signed an agreement with the renowned Principals Academy in Singapore to provide world-class training to teachers.
“This initiative is expected to significantly enhance their knowledge, skills, and teaching methodologies, thereby directly benefiting students and transforming the education system into a more inclusive, effective, and modern framework,” the CM said.
Sukhu emphasized the government's dedication to implementing consistent and constructive reforms in the education sector.
He expressed confidence that Himachal Pradesh would emerge as a national leader in high-quality education by 2032.
He further noted that the government's transformative efforts over the past two years were beginning to yield results.
According to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) published in January 2025, children in Himachal Pradesh demonstrated the highest reading proficiency in the country.
The state has also emerged as a top performer in school education across various parameters, as confirmed by state-level sample surveys indicating a significant improvement in student learning outcomes.
The chief minister suggested including general knowledge as a dedicated subject and emphasized the need to revise school curricula.
He said a new education program focused on the holistic development of students would soon be implemented.
In addition to administrative reforms, innovative measures such as improving the teacher transfer process are also being introduced to raise educational standards.
On the occasion, the chief minister presented instructional packages to the teachers departing for Singapore.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur noted that a total of 267 teachers have been sent to Singapore under this initiative so far, and the program will continue in the future.
He added that, along with teachers, students from government schools have also been taken on international educational tours to broaden their horizons.
