Govt eases Hindi requirement for Eklavya Model Residential Schools recruitment

The union government has eased Hindi language requirements for staff recruitment at Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), a move aimed at making opportunities more accessible to candidates from non-Hindi-speaking regions.

Examinations for these positions will now be conducted in both English and Hindi.

In the preliminary written test for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) positions, candidates will face a 30-mark language competency section covering English, Hindi, and a regional language of their choice.

To pass this section, candidates must score at least 12 marks in total across the three languages.

Previously, candidates were required to achieve a minimum score in Hindi even if they opted for a regional language.

The revised guidelines remove this requirement, making it easier for applicants from non-Hindi regions. The same relaxation applies to the female staff nurse post.

However, Hindi competency remains mandatory for postgraduate teacher positions that involve teaching senior classes.

The recruitment drive is part of efforts to fill 7,267 teaching and non-teaching positions under the EMRS scheme, which has sanctioned a total of 38,480 posts nationwide.

Officials say the change is intended to prevent language criteria from acting as a barrier for qualified candidates from non-Hindi states.

The bilingual examination approach is designed to ensure broader accessibility and encourage participation from a wider pool of applicants.
