Education Minister Pralhad Joshi reviews NTA mechanisms amid focus on transparent, student-centric exams

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi reviewed the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) with senior ministry officials on Aug 10, with discussions centered on strengthening the agency's institutional framework and improving examination processes.

The meeting was attended by the education secretary and other senior officials. The discussions focused on measures to make NTA's operations more efficient and responsive to students, according to official information.

Sharing details of the meeting on X, Joshi said, “Deliberated on key matters requiring attention and the steps ahead to further strengthen institutional mechanisms, streamline processes and ensure greater responsiveness to students.”

“Our focus remains on building a robust, transparent and credible examination ecosystem that serves the aspirations of every student,” he added.

Joshi took charge of the Education Ministry on July 26 following Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. He is handling the education portfolio in addition to his responsibilities as Union Consumer Affairs Minister.

The meeting comes amid scrutiny of NTA's examination systems following allegations of irregularities in competitive examinations.

In a chargesheet submitted to a Delhi court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleged that three NTA subject experts violated an "obligation of secrecy" by circulating question papers related to the NEET UG 2026 examination.
