New Delhi: India’s educational landscape has gained international recognition through the G20 New Delhi declaration. UGC’s E-University is set to commence shortly, following praise for India’s digital public infrastructure model at the G20 Summit. The Central Government has launched the Skill India Digital Platform. The University Grants Commission (UGC) is gearing up for swift action by including all priority areas in the forthcoming announcement within the next few months. Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of UGC, highlighted the need to promote online education to expand the reach of higher education. Integrating technical and vocational education is essential to provide employment opportunities to youth. The number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Indian and foreign institutions is expected to surge rapidly.
According to UGC’s new guidelines, more than 125 universities across the country are implementing four-year undergraduate programs. The Chairman of UGC stated that this number is steadily increasing. Collaborations with foreign universities for a four-year course will be crucial, along with the provision of advanced coursework, research projects, and internships in an additional year. The degree’s nomenclature will adhere to global standards.

Under the New National Education Policy, the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) system has been implemented for students. The ABC system is crucial for entry and exit options in four-year courses. Educational institutions have registered for ABC, and student data is being uploaded on the ABC portal. Every student pursuing higher education will have an academic account where they can accumulate their credits.
