Delhi Police honors 16 student innovators for developing technology-based policing solutions

The Delhi Police has recognized 16 student innovators for developing technology-based solutions aimed at addressing practical challenges faced by the force during its Summer Internship Programme 2026.

Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar presented certificates of appreciation and souvenirs to the students at a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters.

The two-month internship, which began June 8, was designed to strengthen engagement between students, academic institutions, and the police department. More than 400 applications were received from students studying at universities and technical institutions.

Following the selection process, 16 students from institutions including IIT Delhi, Delhi Technological University (DTU), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Jamia Hamdard, and Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology were selected for the programme.

The students worked under officers from the Delhi Police Tech and Project Implementation Division. The internship provided them with direct exposure to policing requirements and enabled them to apply their technical expertise to challenges encountered by the department in its day-to-day operations.

During the program, the interns developed four functional technology solutions focused on areas including administrative efficiency, internal processes, and citizen services.

According to the Delhi Police, the projects were intended to support its ongoing digital transformation efforts and contribute to the development of technology-enabled and citizen-centric policing systems.

At the felicitation ceremony, the Delhi Police commended the students for their innovation, dedication, and technical expertise. The initiative was aimed at encouraging young talent to use technology to address real-world public-sector challenges.

The internship also provided the selected students with practical exposure to policing requirements, allowing them to identify challenges faced by the department and develop technology-based solutions to address them.
