In Chile, a telescope was spotted, asteroid is about the size of a football field near 40 to 100 meters across the Earth.

The average tall building is equal to the meteorological dimensions of 2024 YR4, which are between 40 and 100 meters (131 to 328 feet) across. 2024 YR4 swept through a region that was roughly twice as far away from Earth as the moon on Dec. 25, 2024, when it made its closest approach to the planet. After that, 2024 YR4 will be invisible, so scientists have until mid-April 2025 to study it.
The asteroid can create blast damage up to 50kms from the impact site, well it also depends upon its size and speed of the movement. The asteroid have entered at a very high speed of 17 kms per second.

But even though a hit would likely cause damage, the chances of 2024 YR4 hitting Earth are still extremely low. According to NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), there is a 99. 9% chance 2024 YR4 won’t hit Earth.
Need of assessment of the trajectory and measurements of 2024 YR4 by using variety of powerful telephones is required. NASA can also contribute through International Asteroid Warning Network (IAWN), which monitors asteroids worldwide by assessing their properties with contributions from several space agencies. The team will plan for stabilization procedures and, if needed, develop plans for assessing the possible consequences of an impact.
The ESA-chaired Space Mission Planning Advisory Group (SMPAG) reviews the possibilities for asteroid mitigation techniques, which would include either space-based asteroid deflection operations or the development of evacuation strategies for vulnerable impacted areas.
