Justice Banerjee's journey in law began in 1985 when she enrolled as a lawyer and practiced before the esteemed Calcutta High Court. Her dedication and expertise led to her appointment as a judge of the Calcutta High Court on February 5, 2002. Later, she was transferred to the Delhi High Court on August 8, 2016. Justice Banerjee's illustrious career continued to ascend when she was appointed Chief Justice of the Madras High Court on April 5, 2017.
