The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has set a 336-day schedule to facilitate land acquisition and mitigate delays in project development

A systematic and time-sensitive land acquisition framework has been established by the NHAI to guarantee prompt possession, compensation, and land mutation for highway projects.

This framework incorporates weekly and biweekly monitoring, along with the compulsory utilization of the ‘Bhoomi Rashi’ portal to prevent cost overruns and administrative delays.

Framework & Timeline (Total of 336 Days):

Step-by-step process: The NHAI drafts the plan, uploads it to the Bhoomi Rashi portal, issues a public notification, and provides a 21-day period for landowners to raise objections.

Finalization: Once objections are addressed, authorities obtain the Right of Way, distribute compensation, and finalize possession and land mutation.

Monitoring: The Project Director conducts weekly progress reviews, while the Regional Officer performs biweekly assessments, with significant delays escalated to the Chief General Manager.

Significance:

Minimizes delays in infrastructure development, which can lead to substantial cost increases.

Promotes procedural transparency through digital monitoring via the Bhoomi Rashi portal.

Enhances collaboration between central and state agencies regarding land records and compensation.

Fosters accountability through established timelines and a structured reporting system.
