An outline of the Indian textile industry

  • India’s share in global textile trade stood at 8. 21%, making it the sixth largest exporter (2023-24).
  • Employment Generator: Provides indirect income to over 100 million people including women and rural population and employment to 45 million people directly.
  • Export Markets: 47 per cent of India's textile exports go to the US and the EU.
  • Government Initiatives 10, 683 crore has been provided for manufacturing promotion under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme.
