The board advises students to plan travel carefully due to potential traffic disruptions and highlights new initiatives, including a second Class 10 exam and on-screen marking for Class 12, to ensure smooth assessment.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued guidance for students, parents, and schools ahead of the Class 10 and 12 board examinations starting Feb 17, 2026.
Over 46 lakh students will take exams across India and in 26 countries abroad. Exams are scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM, with students required to arrive at their centers by 10:00 AM.

The advisory warned that national and international events during the exam period may cause traffic congestion, route diversions, and delays in some areas.
"All students are advised to leave home early to ensure they reach the examination center on time, as per the instructions issued by CBSE," it stated.
Schools have been asked to guide parents and students, and students are encouraged to visit their exam centers in advance and plan travel according to local conditions, traffic, weather, and distance. Entry to centers will be allowed only until 10:00 AM (IST).
CBSE has introduced three new initiatives for 2026: a second board examination for Class 10, on-screen marking for Class 12, and the division of Science and Social Studies question papers for Class 10.
On Feb 13, CBSE hosted a live webcast for principals, teachers, and stakeholders to explain examination guidelines and the implementation of the On-Screen Marking system.
Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, CBSE Controller of Examinations, outlined the conduct of exams, evaluation processes, benefits of digital assessment, and the responsibilities of parents.
"This examination will test our knowledge, readiness, responsiveness, and decisions. Therefore, everyone must be fully aware of the rules, policies, and SOPs," said Dr Bhardwaj.
He highlighted the board’s technology-driven reforms, saying, "Smart exam, smarter evaluation, naye Bharat ki pahchaan," emphasizing objective assessment, digital evaluation, and streamlined coordination to ensure smooth examination management.
